What is CUET Examination ?

All UG Programs in all the Central Universities for the academic session 2025 , the National Testing Agency (NTA) has created the Common University Entrance Test (CUET (UG) – 2023) under the Ministry of Education(MoE). The Common University Entrance Test (CUET) offers applicants a uniform platform and equal opportunities throughout the country, especially to those from rural and other remote places. The candidates would be able to participate in the admissions process for numerous Central Universities by taking just one exam.

It was formerly known as CUCET (Central Universities Common Entrance Test). Earlier, UGC conducted this exam in paper-based mode. However, from last year, NTA (National Testing Agency) took over the responsibility. With many more universities and institutes under its ambit, CUET has a much wider outreach and scope today.

Who can prepare for CUET exams?

CUET EXAM is one of the most prestigious entrance exams in the country, with many prospects after getting admission into the preferred UG course. The courses offered at the graduation level under Central Universities vary from BBA to BA or B.Com. The student has to choose the program they want to make their career. What is the exam pattern or syllabus for CUET exam ?

Candidates should also go through the following points regarding CUET 2023 exam pattern:

Exam mode : The mode of the examination is online as Computer Based Test (CBT) mode.

Questions Type : The question paper includes Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ).

Language : The exam includes 13 languages for the UG programme.

Time Duration : There will be 3hours 15 minutes to attempt slot I and 3 hours 45 minutes to attempt Slot II.

Number of Sections : There will be four sections in CUET UG as Section IA, Section IB, Section II and Section III.

Marking-Scheme : 5 marks will be given for each correct answer, while there is a negative marking of 1 for each wrong answer.

Languages:

  • 13 different languages –Punjabi, Telugu,Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Marathi, Malayalam, English, Hindi, Odia, Tamil, & Urdu.

Exam Design:

Section II– Questions based on Input Text for MCQ-based questions (it will be on the basis of the 12th NCERT syllabus).
