What is UPTET exam ?

 Uttar Pradesh Teachers Entrance Test (UPTET) is conducted by Uttar Pradesh Exam Regulatory Authority (ERA) each year to get certify selected teachers that fill applications in various upcoming vacancies.

What is the eligibility for UPTET exam ?

Nationality : Candidates who are citizens of India/Nepal/Bhutan/Tibet are eligible to fil the application form.

Age Limit : Candidates should be aged between 18 and 35 years to apply for the UPTET exam.

What is the eligibility for UPTET exam ?

The educational qualification required to appear for Paper 1 and Paper 2 of the UPTET 2021 exam is different. Have a look at the criteria below: 

UPTET Paper 1 Educational Qualification (Primary-Level Teachers): Applicants need to satisfy any one of the criteria given below to meet UPTET eligibility for Paper 1:

  • Candidates should clear graduation in any discipline from a University Grants Commission (UGC) recognised university or college. However, after the completion of graduation, pursuing a two-year Diploma in Elementary Education (DElEd) is mandatory. Candidates in the final year of DElEd are also eligible to apply
  • Candidates should clear their graduation and post that should pass the Basic Training Certificate (BTC) for distance education as a Shiksha Mitra. Candidates in the final year are also eligible to apply
  • Candidates should clear graduation from a UGC recognised university along with clearing a two-year duration Diploma in Education (D.Ed). Candidates in the final year of D.Ed are also eligible to apply
  • Candidates should clear graduation or post-graduation with a minimum of 50 per cent marks. Along with this, candidates should also be pursuing a Bachelor of Education (BEd)
  • Candidates should clear graduation or post-graduation with a minimum of 45 per cent marks. Along with this, candidates should also complete B.Ed
  • Candidates should complete their graduation along with BTC in Urdu. Candidates in the final year are also eligible to apply
  • Candidates should complete their graduation and also possess a diploma in teaching from Aligarh Muslim University
  • Candidates should have completed their graduation and acquired the degree of Moavill-E-Urdu before August 08, 1997
  • Candidates should complete their Class 12 with a minimum of 50 per cent marks. Along with this, candidates should also complete the four-year duration Bachelor of Elementary Education (BElEd)

UPTET Paper 2 Educational Qualification  (Upper Primary-Level Teachers): Applicants need to satisfy any one of the criteria given below to apply for Paper 2:

  • Candidates should complete their graduation from a recognised college or university. Along with this, candidates should also complete a two-year duration DElEd (BTC).  
  • Candidates should clear graduation or post-graduation with a minimum of 50 per cent marks. Along with this, candidates should also complete B.Ed/B.Ed Special Education. Candidates in the final year of B.Ed/B.Ed Special Education is also eligible to apply
  • Candidates should complete their Class 12 with a minimum of 50 per cent marks. Along with this, candidates should complete a four-year duration BScEd/ BSc BEd from a UGC/National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) recognised institution. Candidates in the final year of BScEd/BSc B.Ed are also eligible to apply
  • Candidates should complete their Class 12 with a minimum of 50 per cent marks. Along with this, candidates should also complete four-year BElEd. Candidates in the final year of B.El.Ed is also eligible to apply
  • Candidates should complete their graduation with a minimum of 50 per cent marks. Along with this, candidates should also complete a one-year duration B.Ed. Candidates in the final year of B.Ed are also eligible to apply

What is the number of attempts for UPTET exam ?

There is no limit on the number of attempts, candidates can take any number of attempts for the UPTET exam.

What is the Criteria to obtain UPTET Eligibility Certificate

  • Candidates who score 60 per cent or above (90/150 marks) in UPTET 2021 exam are awarded the UPTET eligibility certificate
  • The reserved category candidates need to score a minimum of 55 per cent (82/150 marks) in order to qualify the exam and get awarded the UPTET eligibility certificate

The eligibility certificate once awarded is now valid for lifetime. 

What is the exam pattern for UPTET Examination ?

UPTET Exam Pattern for Paper 1

The UPTET Paper 1 exam pattern is divided into five sections. Each section contains 30 MCQs of 30 marks. The total duration of the exam is two hours thirty minutes. Candidates need to attempt the paper in offline mode on the OMR sheet. Have a look at the pattern below.

  • Questions in the Child Development and Pedagogy section focus on the educational psychology and teaching methods for students belonging to the age group of 6-11 years
  • Language-II is a separate language from language-I. Candidates can choose any one language out of the available options (English/Urdu/Sanskrit) as Language-II at the time of filing the¬†UPTET application form. Questions in language-II focus on the elements of language, communication and comprehension abilities.
  • Questions in Mathematics and Environmental Studies focus on the concepts of these subjects, problem-solving abilities and understanding of teaching methods. Questions in these subject areas are distributed equally in the different sections of the syllabus of that subject.
  • The questions in Paper 1 are based on the topics prescribed in the Basic Education Council syllabus for Classes 1 to 5, but their difficulty level is of intermediate level

UPTET Exam Pattern for Paper 2

UPTET Paper 2 exam pattern is divided into four sections. The first three sections contain 30 questions each and the fourth section contains 60 questions. In the fourth section, candidates have the choice to appear for either Mathematics and Science or Social Studies subject. Candidates need to complete the exam in a duration of two hours thirty minutes. The exam is conducted as a pen-paper based test.
